About us

At Passionfruit Kids, we create bilingual educational tools for children to use at home and in the classroom. We believe that young children learn best through play, and we strive to promote bilingualism through a playful, interactive and immersive approach. We're passionate about helping parents and educators integrate language learning into other subject areas and support children's learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).

There are many benefits of bilingualism, but this one resonates with us the most: bilingual learning enriches children's lives socially and cognitively, allowing them to discover our world from different perspectives.

Our family’s bilingual journey

When we were children, my husband and I had limited exposure to a second language (Spanish for me, Mandarin Chinese for him) from our family and school, but never dedicated enough to develop a fluency. We both wish we could speak a second language to be able to explore the world from a different perspective.

When we became parents, we knew we wanted our son to be bilingual so he could appreciate and understand his multicultural family history, as well as develop respect for all the beautiful cultures in our world.

Three years later, we are proud that our son has Mandarin and French comprehension, but it wasn’t an easy road. We've been fortunate to find amazing bilingual educators to help support his learning along with music, books and online videos. Every day after his bilingual daycare, we would ask about his day and he would always respond simply "I played."

That inspired us to develop bilingual learning products to help support his journey. We hope your family enjoys our toys as much as he does.

Our team

Christina Cunningham, Educational Consultant

Christina Cunningham lives in Oklahoma City with her husband and daughter. She has been an early childhood educator for six years, teaching primarily in Pre–K and kindergarten. Christina serves as an educational consultant for Passionfruit Kids. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors with her family, read her way through the public library, and crochet gifts for family and friends.

 

Nrane Harutyunyan, Illustrator

Nrane Harutyunyan loved drawing ever since she was a child. In 2020, she found her passion for creating artworks for packaging designs and now she provides illustrations for Passionfruit Kids. Currently, she lives in Spain and enjoys exploring Spanish culture and language in her free time.

 

Karina Monakhova, Illustrator

Karina Monakhova studied at an art school for six years and started her professional journey as a freelance artist with Upwork. She lives a digital nomad lifestyle and loves traveling, especially in the mountains, discovering new cultures and studying art. You can learn more about her here.
